George Burns started entertaining people in 1902 and stopped in 1996 (That’s 94 years). He won an Oscar and was married to his partner in comedy, Gracie Allen from 1926 until her death in 1964.

Brother William Burns (1902-1966) was a writer for his brother also worked on Mr. Ed.
His father Louis died in the 1903 influenza epidemic when George was seven.
Mother Dorothy (Bluth) Birnbaum.
Met future wife Gracie Allen in 1923 when he was 27.
Burns and Allen was a successful comedy team throughout the 1920′s.
George Burns and Gracie Allen were married in 1926.
Adopted daughter Sandra in 1934.
Adopted son Ronnie in 1935.
Burns and Allen appeared in 19 Hollywood movies and shorts together from 1930-1939.
Burns and Allen had a successful radio show from 1932-1937 on CBS then moved to NBC from 1937-1949 then back to CBS until the team went to television.
The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show ran on TV from 1950-1958 with 249 episodes.
Gracie Allen retired entirely from show business in 1958 and never appeared on television again.
Continued without Gracie on The George Burns Show, it ended a year later.
Gracie Allen died of a heart attack in Hollywood in 1964.
In 1964 he starred with Connie Stevens in the sitcom Wendy and me, it lasted 34 episodes.
From 1964-1967 he appeared in six episodes of the now classic Dean Martin Roasts.
Played Cupid on the first episode of the sitcom That’s Life.
From 1968-1975 he made many appearances on television including The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Dean Martin Comedy Hour and guest appearances on sitcoms.
In 1975 he appeared in The Sunshine Boys. He and Walter Matthau were nominated for an Oscar, Matthau for Best Actor and Burns for Best Supporting Actor and George Burns won his.
At 80, he was (and still is) the oldest man to win an Oscar.
In 1977 he played God in Oh God! with John Denver.
In 1978 he appeared in Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band as Mr. Kite.
In 1980 he reprised his role Of God in Oh God! Book II.
Oh God! You Devil! the third movie of the franchise was released in 1984. In 1988 he starred in 18 Again, a body switch movie with Charlie Schlatter.
His final movie was 1994′s Radioland Murders in which he played a 100 year old comedian.
George Burns was the author of ten books from 1955-1996.
His book How To Live To Be 100 – Or More – The Ultimate Diet, Sex and Exercise Book was published in 1983.
George Burns died in 1996 at the age of 100.
